Dear Coaches and Players:
It is with reluctance and a heavy heart that I write and send out this email. After Nine (9) great years of "Softball at the Beach" Coaches and Players Clinics in Myrtle Beach the first part of January each year, we are forced to end a great run. We had some great times with Mike Candrea (University of Arizona & USA Olympic Head Coach), Scott Whitlock (Kennesaw State), Ken Eriksen University of South Florida & USA Olympic Coach), Mike White (Oregon University), John Tschida, Karen Johns (USA Team Coach), Teresa Wilson (Head Coach University Washington), Ralph Weekly (University of Tennessee), Beverly Smith (University of South Carolina), Lisa Navas (North Carolina State), Chuck D'Arcy (Arizona State University), Kelly Green (Coastal Carolina University), and Olympic Players Jennie Finch, Stacy Nuveman, Leah O'Brien-Amico, Laura Burg and Jack Lewellyn (Sports Psychologist) and High School Coaches Mike Lambros, Monte Sherrill, Tommy Orndorff, among the many many other greats that came and taught us.
THERE WILL BE NO JANUARY 2012 "SOFTBALL AT THE BEACH" Coaches and Players Clinics AT ANY LOCATION.
For those who have loyally supported us thru the years we sincerely appreciate your attendance, support, and efforts. We feel that we have always presented one of the top clinics in the Nation with the best and most knowledgeable speakers available.
However, as good as the quality of the speakers, in order to be a success there must be a receptive audience. Those that attended were a great audience and the speakers marveled year after year how hungry you were for information.and proper techniques used and taught at the upper levels of softball.
But, in order to provide quality Clinic speakers and Player Clinic College Coaches instructors and other professionals, the costs are extremely high. Due to the economy that went sour, lack of interest or other reasons, in the past several years the number of attendees at the "Softball at the Beach" Coaches and Players Clinics dipped below the level necessary to meet expenses. Therefore, it has become necessary to discontinue the Clinics in Myrtle Beach.
IT IS HOPED THAT IN JANUARY 2013 WE CAN AGAIN CONTINUE WITH THE COACHES AND PLAYERS CLINICS IN EITHER CHARLOTTE, NC OR ATLANTA, GA--WITH ATLANTA, GA THE MOST PROBABLE SITE.
The original idea of these clinics was not to make money but to provide the top and bestinstruction in the nation to our High School and East and Southeast Travel Ball Coaches so that they in could in turn go back and teach their students the best and latest techniques in other to compete with the West Coast players. Over all that concept has worked and worked well. But, we must meet expenses in order to continue. We could lower our by lowering the quality of the clinics with lesser speakers and instructors, but we refused to take that route. If we do a clinic we promise it will be top notch quality and worth you or your friends attending.
We at the SC Bandits Organization wish you and your teams the best this fall and the upcoming spring High School Season and Summer Travel Team Seasons. We hope all of you coaches and all of your players become the best you can become.
We have had fun and learned a great deal. Hope it has been well for you and you also learned a great deal.
With Kindest Regards, I Remain,
Ken Bailey, Athletic Director SC Bandits
